Landlord tried to evict tenant after tenant disagreed to rent increase
In a RTB case, a landlord issued an eviction notice to a tenant after the tenant did not agree to a $200 rent increase. The landlord claimed that their daughter would be moving into the unit.
The tenant disputed the notice and it went to an RTB hearing.
The arbitrator found that the landlord failed to prove that they have an honest intention of moving their daughter into the unit and cancelled the notice.
